Our Story
Every neighbourhood has a story. We wanted to help it grow.
From a simple belief about neighbourhoods to building a new way to discover, shop and connect locally.
A neighbourhood is more than the streets we walk, the shops we pass and the homes we return to. It's a whole world of people, ideas, ambitions and possibilities — often hiding in plain sight.
Chizzit began with a simple belief: what if discovering and supporting the businesses around us were as easy as opening an app?
What if local shops could reach the people living just around the corner? What if customers could find what they need nearby, discover something new and feel more connected to the place they call home?
For Aparna, this wasn't just an idea about shopping. It was an opportunity to bring visibility, opportunity and growth closer to home.
The Beginning
Aparna believed local ambition deserved a bigger stage.
Every business begins with someone seeing possibility where others see an ordinary day.
Aparna's journey as an entrepreneur gave her a close view of what it takes to build something from the ground up: the persistence, the uncertainty, the decisions, and the effort of getting people to notice and believe in what you're creating.
Through her work and her connection with women entrepreneurs, she saw how much ambition exists beyond the familiar startup hubs and established business networks. There are women building businesses, families discovering new ways to earn, and local entrepreneurs putting their creativity into products and services that deserve to be found.
But a good product doesn't automatically find its customer. And a hardworking business doesn't always have the visibility or reach it needs.
That gap became an important part of the question behind Chizzit: how can technology make it easier for local businesses to be discovered and chosen?
The Insight
The next big discovery might be just around the corner.
We are used to searching far and wide for things we need. We browse large marketplaces, scroll through endless listings and often overlook the businesses that are already part of our everyday lives.
Yet neighbourhoods have their own marketplaces. The familiar store with something new on its shelves. The entrepreneur who has built a business from her home. The shop that knows its customers by name. The local service that people recommend to friends and neighbours.
These businesses have something valuable: proximity, personal relationships and a place in the community.
What they may not have is a simple way to put their products in front of nearby customers at the right moment. And customers may not know what is available until they walk into a shop — or hear about it from someone else.
Chizzit set out to close that distance between local supply and local demand — not by changing what makes neighbourhood businesses special, but by helping more people discover them.
The First Neighbourhood
Big ambitions. One neighbourhood at a time.
Every large vision needs a place to begin. For Chizzit, that place is Nanganallur.
Rather than trying to be everywhere from day one, Chizzit is starting with a neighbourhood where local discovery can become tangible: where the businesses are real, the streets are familiar and the community can see the marketplace taking shape around them.
The ambition is not simply to list shops on a screen. It's to build a useful local experience — one where residents can explore nearby products, discover offers, find everyday essentials and place orders from businesses in their own neighbourhood.
For local merchants, it means another way to be visible to people nearby.
For residents, it means a new way to see what's available around them.
And for the neighbourhood as a whole, it means creating more opportunities for local businesses to participate in the digital economy.
Our first chapter is being written in Nanganallur, Chennai.
The Build
Behind every simple experience is a thousand thoughtful decisions.
A marketplace may look simple when it finally reaches a customer's phone. But bringing it to life means solving problems on both sides.
How does a customer discover the right product? How does a small business get its products online? How do prices, availability, addresses, payments and delivery fit together? How can a neighbourhood marketplace make the experience convenient without losing the personal character of local shopping?
Chizzit is being built to connect these pieces into one experience.
The customer should be able to browse products, look up an address, sign in, discover local businesses and move toward a purchase without having to figure out how the system works behind the scenes.
The business should have a way to present what it offers to people who might otherwise never discover it.
And the team has to make the operational side work too: order handling, delivery, support and the economics that make the marketplace sustainable.

The Community
When women grow, neighbourhoods grow with them.
For Aparna, the story of Chizzit connects naturally with a bigger question: what happens when women have more opportunities to build, participate and grow?
Through Women Who Win, she has been bringing women together around connection, learning, entrepreneurship and mutual encouragement.
That community reflects something important about the local economy. Many women have ideas, skills, products and ambitions. Some are already running businesses. Others are exploring what they could build next. Many have valuable work to offer but face barriers to visibility, networks or access to customers.
Chizzit can become one practical part of that picture.
A woman who makes something should have a way to show it to nearby customers. A woman running a shop should have more ways to be discovered. A customer who wants to support women entrepreneurs should be able to find businesses to shop from.
Because supporting women in business shouldn't be limited to applause at an event. It can also mean discovering their work, buying their products, recommending their stores and helping their businesses build lasting customer relationships.
More than a marketplace. A platform for possibility.
Chizzit wants local discovery to create more opportunities for the people behind the businesses — not just more choices for the people shopping.
From Idea to Reality
The first version isn't the finish line. It's where the learning begins.
Turning a neighbourhood idea into a working product means moving from assumptions to real experiences.
The first businesses have to be onboarded. Their products have to be presented accurately. Residents have to be able to find the marketplace, understand what it offers and trust the process of ordering.
That's why the first version of Chizzit is not about being everywhere or doing everything. It's about making the essential experience work in one place, learning from the people who use it and improving it with every iteration.
The website is becoming a place where residents can browse neighbourhood products, look up an address and sign in. The Android distribution process has moved forward, and the iOS journey is still ahead.
Each step brings the idea closer to a real customer experience. Each business that joins helps make the marketplace more useful to the next customer.
The First Milestone
Make Nanganallur useful before making Chizzit bigger.
Build the local catalogue. Make the customer journey work. Help businesses participate. Learn what residents actually need.
The Ambition
What if shopping local became the easiest choice?
Imagine opening an app and finding the businesses around you — not as a scattered collection of names, but as a connected neighbourhood marketplace.
You could discover a product you didn't know a nearby store carried. Find an offer from a business you've walked past for years. Shop from a local entrepreneur whose work you've never seen before. Get to know the people and businesses that make your neighbourhood what it is.
Now imagine that experience becoming more useful as more businesses join and more residents participate.
The ambition is to create a model that can begin in one neighbourhood, learn from its people and eventually serve other communities too. Each neighbourhood has its own businesses, habits, identity and needs. Growing responsibly means understanding those differences rather than assuming every place works the same way.
The opportunity isn't just to make local shopping digital. It's to make the digital experience feel genuinely local.
What Comes Next
One neighbourhood today. More possibilities tomorrow.
Chizzit's journey is still being written. The next chapters will be shaped by the businesses that join, the residents who shop, the problems that surface and the ideas that emerge along the way.
There will be milestones worth celebrating and lessons that require changing course. There will be new products, new partnerships and new ways to make the marketplace more useful.
But the guiding idea stays the same: bring neighbourhood businesses and neighbourhood customers closer together.
For Aparna, the bigger opportunity is to help build something that can grow beyond a single app or a single locality — a platform where local businesses can find customers, where women entrepreneurs can gain visibility, and where communities can participate in their own economic growth.
The journey starts with Nanganallur. What comes next will be built together.
